Statcomm Emergency Lighting Services
California Exit Sign Requirements
California requires annual testing of emergency and exit lighting and in some cases, there may be an additional monthly transfer tests necessary. Statcomm can provide your testing and maintenance services for you or provide a report for your lighting contractor to repair. There are multiple layers of requirements as you can see below
National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) Standard 101
California Department of Industrial Regulations (DIR) Title 8
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1910.37
Underwriters’ Laboratories (UL) Standard 924
These standards govern everything from the definition of an exit to the minimum lighting, size and placement requirements for exit signage, as well as testing protocols and time frames. Adherence to these standards and protocols is critical for ensuring proper function of the emergency lighting in the event of an emergency, and we take our role and responsibility in ensuring they’re working correctly very seriously.
At Statcomm, we work with all the above-listed standards, as well as local regulatory bodies, to ensure code compliance at every level for all facets and aspects of your emergency lighting and life safety systems.
